Description
This Keweenaw firebrick goddess is made from the old hand-fired copper smelter of the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company at Hubbell, Michigan. The Calumet Hecla mine produced 4.5 billion pounds of copper. Over the years, the smelting process resulted in the firebrick absorbing molten copper and other metals from the ore charge. When the smelter was torn down, local rock-hounds quickly discovered that the copper impregnated bricks were beautiful when cut and polished.
The goddess is the symbol of the innermost self. Throughout history the goddess was seen as the Virgin, mother, warrior, huntress, wife, artist, healer and sorcerer. She awakens the mind, spirit and emotions.
