These goddess earrings are created with Lake Superior agates. “Lakers” are the oldest agate on the planet. The most common type of Lake Superior agate is the fortification agate with its eye-catching banded patterns. Each band, when traced around and exposed pattern or face, connects with itself like the walls of a fort, hence the name fortification agate. The copper beads represent the Keweenaw’s copper production. Between the mid 1840’s and 1968, Keweenaw Peninsula mines produced an estimated 10.5 billion pounds of copper.

The goddess is the symbol of the innermost self. She awakens the mind, spirit and emotions. Throughout history the Goddess was seen as the Virgin, mother, warrior, huntress, wife, artist, healer and sorcerer.
